The aptly-named “Rose de Mai” (rosa x centifolia) blooms for just three weeks each year during the month of May. In a centuries-old tradition, its stems are cut by hand at dawn and the oil extraction process is begun within no more than a few hours of harvest. This profoundly robust candle contains the oil of roughly 30,000 centifolia and damascena roses infused in coconut wax.
